Every few decades a book is published that changes the lives of its readers for ever.  Paul Coelho’s The Alchemist is such a book.  With over 30 million copies sold world wide and translated into 63 languages, The Alchemist has already achieved the status of a modern classic. 

This is a story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who dreams of travelling the world in search of a treasure as extravagant as any ever found.  From his home is Spain he journeys to the exotic markets of Tangiers and then into the Egyptian desert, where a fateful encounter with the alchemist awaits him.  The Alchemist is an unforgettable novel about the essential wisdom of listening to our heart and above all, following our dreams.

It’s a very strange story how I came across this book as I normally buy all my books online.  I had left it to late and as we were going on holiday the next day I popped into our local book store with Sharon my wife to get some poolside reading !  I went my way and Sharon went hers.  I found the books that I wanted but Sharon hadn’t and asked the lady if she could direct her to the section where she could find a book that was story based but  had a strong meaning behind it.  Sharon searched for about half and hour, nothing.  She then asked another assistant who came and helped her search and she said “The Alchemist” you will love it !   To cut a long story short,  they didn’t have the book in stock but they could order it.  We decided we would order it online BUT as we were leaving the store, the lady tapped Sharon on the back and said  “ I found one ! It’s your lucky day”.  It was obviously meant to be !! 

“The Alchemist” is a simple but very powerful story  which helps the reader understand the Challenges that we face on a day to day basis when striving for our goals  and it helps us to understand how easy it is to be distracted and lose sight of our dreams. It really helped me understand my business and the challenges that I face on a day to day basis.  Not everbody that looks to work  from home online with MyShoppingGenie either understands it or believes that something could be that simple and work……..

It’s the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary !!
