It’s simple…When you create a self hosted WordPress blog for your business you have total control of the content, you have the ability to have it optimised for a high search engine ranking and you have total control over its appearance.
Setting up your own blog can be very beneficial to your business and with a bit of effort and the correct foundations you should be able to get a high Google ranking and in the not to distant future start to receive free organic traffic, that’s targeted and interested in your niche.
To make things as simple as possible and to ensure that you don’t suffer a lot of down time I am going to recommend two companies Go Daddy for domain name registration and Host Gator for the creation and hosting of your WordPress site.
So what are the three simple steps:
1. Domain Name Registration: Go to www.godaddy.com and register your domain name. For the sake of getting a high Google ranking I would suggest that you choose a long tailed domain name. For example if you are involved with say My Shopping Genie try to think how people use a search engine, they would invariably not type in just my shopping genie they would probably type in “does my shopping genie work”, “how to make money with my shopping genie” etc. There is a lot greater chance of getting a high page ranking with a long tailed domain name because there are fewer searches. Once you have chosen your long tailed key word you need to register the name and choose a top level domain name i.e. .com or .org. So your new domain name would look something like this www.doesmyshoppinggeniework.com.
2. Go to Host Gator and set up an account if you don’t already have one and arrange for the transfer of your Domain name from Go Daddy. This is quite straight forward and should not cause any problems.
3. This is the most exciting part, once you have completed the above two steps you will be sent an email with login details for your c-panel which is used to control your web site. Log into your c-panel and look for a blue smiley face, the Fantastico button, click this and a new page will launch. On the left hand side you will see a WordPress link click this button to build & launch your WordPress blog.
As I said these are the three simple steps to launch your WordPress site and from now on you can spend your time creating content and optimizing your site to get your My Shopping Genie or any other business on to the front page of Google, Bing or any other major search engine.
